| The Barham Family of Barham Return to Barham Kent Jamestown 2007 Index | |||
|
The Barham family, who took it's name from the village, contributed two members to the early settlers in Virginia: - Anthony Barham who arrived on the
Abigail in 1621, his future wife Elizabeth Pierce having arrived on
the William and Thomas in 1618. Anthony's father was
Thomas Barham (1565 - ????) who was the son of another Thomas Barham (1537
- 1595). Anthony actually returned to England after serving
his community in Virginia but died in 1641. Charles Barham who arrived on the John and Ambrose in 1653, he married Elizabeth Ridley in Virginia. Charles' father was Robert Barham (c1599 - 1648) whose father was also Robert Barham (1572 - c1631), he being the son of Thomas Barham (1537 - 1595) and hence joins Anthony's family tree. The Barham family has been at the centre of British history over many generations. Below is the family line which has been continued back to most proven generations (although it is possible that it eventually goes back to Icelandic legends such as Edda). As with America itself, the Barham family draws itsancestry from many countries across Europe. The
Barham family name is widely held across America and many family trees now
exist on the internet. This line goes back from Charles Barham
and runs back in time taking the ancestry of the most historically
interesting directions. As with any genealogy there can be
errors and this ancestry is presented with entries gained from a number of
sources. Where differences have been found then judgment of
the most reputable source has been taken. | |||
