East Kent Housing, Community Project”

In January 2016, Lily Matthews put forward an application for a community gazebo with seating and flower planters; for the residents of Crookenden Place, Barham.

It was quite an ambitious request, one that East Kent Housing had not had before but Lily pushed on and in August 2016 it was given the “go ahead”.   A plan was drawn for a large timber framed structure with paved base and path, wooden flower planters and trellis work.

Mears Contractors and their team got on with the job and this is the result – a community gazebo, full of blooms with lovely planters and a large seating area with benches and tables.

A friendly gathering place to have a chat, a cup of tea with cake or a fish and chip night (and we have also been known to have an occasional “knees up” with a warm welcome for everyone in the village to join in.

From the residents of Crookenden Place – a big thank you to East Kent Housing and Mears Contractors.
