Dave as most of us will remember him -
always ready to defend what he believed in.
Here he is
wearing his best ‘interview’ shoes at the time and, in
fact, wore them the day after the photograph was taken
for an interview...he didn’t get the job.
Always studious he joined BR in a move
from Redhill College and escaped by way of "unpaid
leave" to attend Salford University to study Transport.
He shared a house with Dave, Jim and Twiggy where many
friends from Essex House were entertained over the
years. Part of the devious deal was that Dave should
return to continue his career but he had better plans
and went to Cranfield University for a Masters Degree.
Joining Room 84 was a good move for Dave and was the
pinnacle of his career before coming down to earth at
the Tyne and Wear PTE (where he met his wife to be
Carole), GMPTE, London Transport, The Audit Commission
and the
Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals Trust.
Dave tried to pretend he wasn't a DAA
but The Gargoyle
bumped into him at London Bridge waiting for a
"thumper" in 2004, he was spotted on RM1 on the
last Routemaster day on the 73 and last July went over
Shap in record breaking style behind one of his
favourite locomotives
- Duchess of Sutherland.
Rest
with a peaceful mind Dave. |
