Room 84 was an
office that worked hard delivering special traffic requirements much
quicker than the modern privatised railway - sometimes in real time
via the telephone. One of the more unusual deliverables was punishment for mistakes, late delivery of work or simply because the pressures were building and it was your turn. Only the Head of Section was immune - probably not a good idea when he was timing a Royal Train...
